Qatar and United Nations Sign the Host Country Agreement for the Second World Summit for Social Development

New York, 17 September 2025 – The Government of the State of Qatar and the United Nations, represented by the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), formalized their partnership for the upcoming World Social Summit, under the title, “the Second World Summit for Social Development” with the signing of the Host Country Agreement.

The Agreement was signed by Her Excellency Alya Ahmed Saif Al-Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, and Mr. Li Junhua, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.

This milestone paves the way for the Summit, which will gather Heads of State and Governments, government officials and various stakeholders in Doha from 4–6 November 2025 to advance global commitments on social development and inclusive growth.

The Host Country Agreement sets out the logistical and legal arrangements for the Summit.
