Held on the margins of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) on 1 July 2025, Sevilla, Spain, this high-level special event—jointly organized by the Government of Spain, the State of Qatar, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), marked a critical milestone in advancing the global social agenda.

Anchored in the momentum toward the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2), the event explored how financing commitments from FfD4 can be translated into tangible outcomes that promote inclusive, sustainable, and just development. Discussions focused on aligning economic and financing strategies with the goals of social justice, including expanding social protection systems, promoting inclusive labour markets, and ensuring decent work for all amid growing global challenges.

Participants emphasized the urgency of strengthening collaboration between finance and social development actors to bridge the gap between economic ambition and social impact. The event called for innovative financial mechanisms, greater policy coherence, and bold commitments to ensure that no one is left behind on the road from Seville to Doha.
