The Summit and potential pre-Summit events will take place at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The QNCC is located approximately 25–30 minutes by car from the Hamad International Airport (DOH).

The venue is a start-of-the-art facility with 40,000 sqm of exhibition space, and is equipped with auditoriums, meeting rooms, and high-tech services. 

A fully equipped medical clinic will be available at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) for the duration of the Summit. The clinic will be operated by trained medical staff and will be available to assist with any emergency health situations that may arise during the event.

 INSIDE THE CONFERENCE VENUE (BLUE ZONE)
  • Within United Nations premises, all persons are required to comply with safety and security regulations, as well as the rules and procedures of the organization. Any act that disrupts the normal functioning of the organization’s programmatic activities, such as public displays of any form, including, but not limited to, clothing, banners, placards or other written or visual means, as well as vocal/audio sounds, gatherings or demonstrations of any kind, including passive, is not allowed.  
  • All individuals present on the United Nations premises are expected to fully cooperate with United Nations security officers at all times. Refusal to comply with applicable regulations may result in temporary detention or removal from or denial of access to the premises in accordance with Section 10 of the United Nations Headquarters Agreement and ST/AI/2019/5, entitled “Authority of United Nations Security Officers”.
  • All participants of the World Social Summit must go through security screening (airport-style). As such, participants need to allow appropriate time for those procedures.
  • Please note that backpacks and bags larger than 14” (35 cm) x 13” (33cm) high x 4” (10 cm) deep are not permitted and that there are no luggage storage facilities available.
  • Participants are strongly encouraged not to carry/bring prohibited items while entering the conference venue. A non-exhaustive list of prohibited items is as follows:
    • Any instrument made, intended for, or capable of use as a weapon
    • Radiological, biological, and chemical agents
    • Devices capable of emitting disruptive noise, odours or cause visual impairment
    • Flammable liquids and fuels, gasoline, aerosols, turpentine, paint and thinner, gas torches, lighters or matches, lighter fluid, non-personal care aerosols
    • Compressed gas cylinders
    • Drones (unmanned aerial vehicles)
    • Items designated as illegal by the host country
    • Items whose significance could be opposed to the interests of the United Nations (e.g., unauthorized written material, offensive banners, clothing, flags intended to be political and used for demonstration)
    • Non-prescription narcotics, cannabis, alcohol
    • Skateboards, scooters, segways and other similar recreational terms
  • Participants are reminded to behave appropriately, to keep noise levels down, and to dress in a way that respects the professional working environment of the United Nations.
  • The United Nations Security reserves the right to deny entry or remove from the premises anyone not behaving or dressed appropriately.
  • Any participant under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a duly registered chaperone.
  • The Summit venue is accessible for persons with disabilities and persons with limited mobility.
  • Please, be mindful that, by attending a UN event, you will be entering an area where photography, as well as audio and video recording, may occur. By joining the event, participants consent to appearing in images and recordings and for the release, publication, exhibition and reproduction of such images and recordings.
  • Only accredited media can bring professional cameras or other media equipment into the Blue Zone.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring and use reusable water bottles. Water will be available from fountains inside the Blue Zone.
  • Given the large size of the Summit venue and distances between meeting rooms, please consider wearing comfortable shoes. 
HOST COUNTRY REQUIREMENTS

All attendees of the Summit must register with the Host Country and have a valid Hayya Entry Permit.

Information on host country requirements, including visa and other entry permits, will be available on the Summit website in due course, and will also be included in confirmation emails sent to all participants following a successful registration with the United Nations. 

Official Government Delegations

Following the registration with the United Nations, the designated focal point must email delegations@gm.gov.qa to begin the Host Country registration process with Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  

This focal point will be responsible for submitting details for all delegation members to register all members of the delegation. 

The dedicated guest management team of the Host Country will assist the focal point with submitting Hayya Entry Permit documentation and coordinating hotel and transport arrangements. 

It is important that Permanent Missions coordinate with their embassies in Qatar to ensure all members of the Delegation are fully registered in advance. 

Participants & delegates  

  1. International participants that are not part of the official government delegations will receive a confirmation email containing a unique registration code (also referred to as “voucher”) following registration through the United Nations. This code will be required when applying for a Hayya e-Visa via a designated online portal https://Hayya.qa. Each individual must apply independently. Participants should wait 72 hours after receipt of the approval letter before submitting the application for the Hayya e-Visa. After the designated waiting period, the voucher will be accepted in the Hayya portal. The registration code is not transferable. The approval is subject to further review and process by the authorities of the State of Qatar.
  2. For further assistance and technical support for all Hayya related issues, please contact the Hayya Support Team by email at @email or by phone at ‪+974 4441 2022.
  3. Qatari Nationals and Residents (QID Holders) should email @email with their name, organization and reference code (registration ID) to request the Host Country registration link. Once their request has been verified, a dedicated registration link will be sent to them from @email. Through this link, they will be able to upload their Qatar ID information and complete the Host Country registration process

Media  

  1. Media attending the Summit must register with the United Nations and then apply for a Hayya Media Permit through the Hayya Media Portal (HMP) (https://media.hayya.qa/). The portal will guide all media guests through uploading documents and, if needed, applying for equipment clearance or filming permits.
  2. Media representatives who are a part of official delegations, including journalists and official photo and video, must complete the Host Country registration process with Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the designated focal point for each delegation must email @email as soon as possible.  The dedicated Guest Management Team of the Host Country will assist the focal point with all requirements and provide guidance on the additional Hayya Media Permit registration process.
  3. This process ensures entry into Qatar, equipment clearance and filming permissions. Early submission is strongly encouraged. 

Health insurance

Travelers visiting the State of Qatar are recommended to have a valid health insurance policy covering Qatar's medical facilities. Participants with a valid Hayya permit, who don’t have an insurance policy, are exempt from purchasing the mandatory health insurance, however, they are welcome to purchase one on arrival in the State of Qatar. ACCOMMODATION

Participants are responsible for arranging their own hotel accommodations, unless otherwise notified.

Each hotel will feature an information desk in the lobby to assist participants throughout the duration of the Summit.

Given the high demand for lodging in Doha during the Summit week, early booking is strongly encouraged. 

TRANSPORTATION

Airport Transfers 

The main international gateway to Doha is Hamad International Airport (DOH), served by numerous international carriers. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation from Hamad International Airport (DOH) to their hotel. The most convenient options include:

  • Karwa Taxis: Qatar’s official taxi service, available 24/7 at the airport. The journey to most central hotels takes approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic.
  • Doha Metro: The Red Line connects directly from Hamad International Airport Terminal 1 Station, offering a fast and affordable option to reach many parts of the city, including hotel areas. Trains run frequently and feature air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Further information can be found here.

Getting Around Doha

Doha offers a variety of transportation options:

  • Karwa Taxis: Readily available and reliable. Book via the Karwa app, by phone, or at designated taxi stands.
  • Doha Metro: An efficient and affordable system with three lines (Red, Green, and Gold), connecting major districts and attractions. Further information can be found here.
  • Ride-Hailing Apps: Uber is available for travel within the city (excluding airport pickups).

Transport to the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) is accessible by:

  • Doha Metro: Take the Green Line to Education City Station, a short distance from QNCC.
  • Karwa Taxis or Private Vehicles: These can drop participants directly at the venue’s main entrance.
  • Shuttle Services: A shuttle service between selected hotels and the venue may be arranged; details will be provided in the logistical note shared prior to the event.

Venue staff and clear signage will be available at the QNCC to assist participants upon arrival.

HOSTING FOR OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT DELEGATIONS

Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and recently graduated LDCs 

The Host Country will provide support described below for official delegations from the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and the recently graduated (LDCs), in line with the provisions contained in the host country agreement. Please refer to page 16 of the presentation for the full list of countries.

The head of delegation, along with up to five (5) additional delegation members, will be hosted. This includes the provision of: 

  • Flight tickets 

  • Accommodation 

  • Local transportation 

Small Island Developing States (SIDS) 

The Host Country will provide support described below for official delegations from SIDS Countries. Please refer to page 18 of the presentation for the full list of countries. 

The head of delegation, along with up to five (5) additional delegation members, will be hosted. This includes the provision of:  

  • Flight tickets  

  • Accommodation  

  • Local transportation  

Other Official Government Delegations

The Host Country will provide accommodation and transportation for all other official delegations not specified above. The level of service provided will be determined by the level of the Head of Delegation, as follows: 

  • Head of State or Head of Government: 6 hotel rooms, 3 cars, 1 liaison officer  

  • Minister: 4 hotel rooms, 2 cars, 1 liaison officer 

  • Other: 1 hotel room, 1 car
