15th annual AARP-United Nations Briefing

08 March 2022

This year’s briefing focused on “Shameful Contrast: Inequality at the Intersection of Age and Gender” with a spotlight on older women and aims to transform political momentum into action that will empower older women and further promote gender equality.

The Briefing featured leaders from across the globe on women’s empowerment and gender equity and offered insights into how key stakeholders can engage in a dialogue and format policies that promote gender equity and the empowerment of women. The event was organized by AARP, UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Permanent Mission of Argentina, UN Women and the Special Procedures Office of the Independent Expert on the Rights of Older Persons.

The virtual event took place on Tuesday, March 15, 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM EDT via Zoom. Watch the event recording here.
