On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons 2025, the United Nations Inter-Agency Group on Ageing (UN IAGA) is launching 24 common messages on population ageing, older persons and their human rights.

Organized around the three priority directions of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing — Older Persons and Development; Advancing Health and Well-being into Old Age; and Ensuring Enabling and Supportive Environments — the messages are action-oriented and reflect the shared position of the 33 member entities of the United Nations Inter-Agency Group on Ageing.

The messages cover a wide range of critical issues, from tackling inequalities and preventing neglect, abuse and violence, to promoting age-inclusive access to culture, travel and tourism. They offer a common basis for guiding and strengthening cross-sectoral work on ageing across the United Nations system.
