Report of the Secretary-General to the 66th session of the UN General Assembly
The most recent report of the Secretary-General entitled " Follow-up to the Second World Assembly on Ageing" has been issued and is available at the UN Programme on Ageing's web-site. The report focuses on the human rights situation of older persons world-wide. It provides an overview of challenges faced by older persons in their enjoyment of rights and outlines examples of Government responses to those challenges. It also offers a collection of legislation, policies and programmes and describes key human rights issues, such as, discrimination, violence and abuse, social protection, long-term care, age-specific services, participation, access to justice and life-long pensions.

Second working session of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on Ageing for the purpose of strengthening the protection of the human rights of older persons
The OEWG held its second session on 1-4 August 2011. The programme of work, list of side events, statements by Member States and civil society organizations, background documents and presentations by panellists are available online.

ECE Capacity-building training workshop on the topic "Addressing Current Social and Health Issues in Ageing"
The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic organizes this workshop in co-operation with the International Institute on Ageing Malta and the UNECE Population Unit in Prague on October 3-7, 2011. The programme has been designed for policy-makers, representatives of civic society organizations and practitioners working in the field of ageing in the UNECE region.
