United Nations Human Rights Council Appoints Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older Persons
On 8 May 2014, the Council appointed Ms. Rosita Kornfeld-Matte (Chile) as Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older Persons. This appointment was established by Human Rights Council resolution 24/20. Click here to find out more about Ms. Kornfeld-Matte's experience as well as her mandate for the next three years.

Fifth Session of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG) on Ageing for the Purpose of Strengthening the Protection of the Human Rights of Older Persons
The fifth working session of the OEWG on Ageing is scheduled to take place in New York from 30 July - 1 August 2014 and will commence daily at 10:00 am. NGO online pre-registration is now OPEN. General Assembly Resolution on Ageing and Older Persons
Resolution A/RES/68/134 on Follow-up to the Second World Assembly on Ageing (22 January 2014) adopted at the 68th session of the General Assembly is available on the web site of the Focal Point on Ageing.
