This year’s World Food Day marks the 80th anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), renewing the call for global collaboration to build a peaceful, sustainable, and food-secure future where everyone can access a healthy diet and live in harmony with the planet. Celebrated under the theme “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”, the Day highlights the shared responsibility of governments, organizations, and communities to transform agrifood systems and ensure that no one is left behind. Across 150 countries, hundreds of events including marathons, cultural performances, exhibitions, and community actions are bringing people together to champion the right to food and a more resilient planet.

As part of FAO’s milestone year, the Organization is unveiling the Food and Agriculture Museum and Network at its Rome headquarters. This new space is designed to connect people through the art, science, and culture of food. The Museum offers interactive exhibits, live workshops, and rotating displays that showcase innovation, resilience, and diversity across global food systems.

World Food Day also celebrates the #FoodHeroes working every day to nourish their communities: farmers, youth, innovators, and local leaders who are restoring lands, protecting biodiversity, and fostering dignity through food. Their stories embody FAO’s enduring mission to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can enjoy better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life.

As FAO turns 80, its vision remains as vital as ever: a world free from hunger and malnutrition, achieved through solidarity and shared action. Everyone is encouraged to take part in #WorldFoodDay activities and choose to act for food, for people, and for the planet.
