12 June 2025 – Geneva:  The Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice took place on 12 June at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Held alongside the 113th International Labour Conference, the Forum brought together Ministers and senior officials to discuss the significance and future of sustainable development.

The Forum marked a pivotal moment for the Global Coalition for Social Justice, uniting more than 370 partners, including governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, development banks, NGOs, and academia. Since its launch in 2023, the Coalition has grown into a dynamic platform for collective action and on-the-ground impact, highlighting priorities that will be presented at the Second World Summit for Social Development this November in Doha, Qatar.

In the lead-up to the Summit, discussions and panels at the Forum focused on six priority areas to advance the social justice agenda:

  • Promoting decent wages;
  • Fostering responsible business practices;
  • Enabling a just transition through social dialogue;
  • Advancing a human rights-based economy;
  • Empowering youth; and
  • Leveraging artificial intelligence for social development.

The Forum’s principles are rooted in the goals outlined in the Draft Political Declaration (Revision Two) for the Second World Summit, built on three pillars: the eradication of poverty, full and productive employment, and social integration.

In addition, the ILO highlighted its ongoing campaign, This Way to Social Justice, launched in 2023 to address some of the world’s most pressing economic and social challenges. The campaign, which thrives through social media engagement, has amplified the Forum’s themes in line with the 2021 resolution concerning inequalities and the world of work.

The ILO has underscored that the Second World Summit for Social Development is “a unique opportunity to rally the international community behind the common objective of advancing social progress and social justice as a fundamental contribution to the achievement of sustainable development, peace, and security.”
