lunes, 31 marzo 2014

The 2014 Social Forum of the Human Rights Council will take place from 1 to 3 April 2014 in the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, in accordance with paragraph 6 of Human Rights Council resolution 24/25 entitled “The Social Forum”. The theme this year is "the rights of older persons, including best practices in this regard". The Forum aims to foster open and interactive dialogue on human rights issues, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders.

DSPD Focal Point on Ageing will participate in the Forum as a panel member in the session on "The Universal Human Rights System: New Opportunities for Participation", and is expected to highlight the role of the General Assembly's Open-ended Working Group on Ageing as an opportunity towards promoting and protecting the human rights of older persons, through interactive dialogue and participation.
