Ageing at the Second World Summit for Social Development

Doha, 4–6 November 2025 — Discussions on population ageing will feature prominently at the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha. Sessions across the programme will explore demographic trends, policy responses and opportunities to adapt social systems to ageing societies:

4 November

  • Solutions Spotlight: Soft Launch of the IAGA Call to Action on Long-Term Care

    Focus: Ten under-prioritized policy areas to strengthen long-term care and support systems.
  • Solution Studio: Community-led development for scaling disability inclusion initiatives 
    Time: 4:00–4:30 p.m. (Doha) — live on UN Web TV
    Focus: Community leadership and cross-sector partnerships to advance disability inclusion.

5 November

  • Ageing Futures Launchpad: Global Research Agenda Update & GCC Older Persons’ Well-Being Index

    Focus: Research priorities on ageing and regional approaches to measuring older persons’ well-being.
  • Solutions Spotlight: From Trends to Transformation — Acting on Global Population Ageing
    Time: 3:15–3:45 p.m. (Doha) — live on UN Web TV
    Focus: Translating demographic evidence into policy and practice.
  • Experienced, Knowledgeable and Underutilized: The Critical Role of Older Persons in the Workforce and the Future of Work
    Time: 4:45–6:00 p.m. (Doha), Room 9, QNCC
    Focus: Harnessing the skills of older persons and promoting inclusive labour markets.

6 November

  • Addressing Gender and Ageing: Centering Older Women in Social Development Solutions

    Focus: Gender-responsive approaches to ageing and care.
