Checklist for the inclusion of Older Persons in COVID-19 Socio-economic Response Plans (SERPs)

Checklist for the inclusion of Older Persons in COVID-19 Socio-economic Response Plans (SERPs)

A checklist of potential actions, tools and resources, issued by the Inter-Agency Group on Ageing, was designed in line with the UN Secretary General’s policy brief The Impact of COVID-19 on Older Persons, to help countries tackle the devastating social and economic dimensions of the pandemic, with a focus on older persons as a priority group. The objective of the checklist is to provide initial guidance to help the UN Resident Coordinator System in examining whether socio-economic impact assessments, responses and recovery plans apply a human rights-based approach, ensuring that no older person will be left behind.

The checklist is co-authored by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and was distributed by the United Nations Development Cooperation Office (UN DCO) - the Secretariat for the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) as an annex to the UN DCO checklist for a Human Rights-Based Approach to Socio-Economic Country Responses to COVID-19.
