General Assembly resolutions on ageing and older persons
UN General Assembly resolutions 67/139 (Towards a comprehensive and integral international legal instrument to promote and protect the rights and dignity of older persons) and 67/143 (Follow-up to the Second World Assembly on Ageing) were issued.

20th World Congress of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG 2013)
Held by the IAGG (International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics) and the International Congress Organizing Committee once every four years, the World Congress of the IAGG is the world’s largest international congress. Here, leading gerontologists, geriatrics scholars, policy decision-makers, professional activists, related companies, and researchers get together and share recent discoveries and study results. It will take place in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 23-27 June 2013.

International Istanbul Initiative on Ageing
The International Federation on Ageing (IFA) in collaboration with Turyak Seniors Council Association (Turyak) will launch the first International Istanbul Initiative on Ageing (IIIA) on 4-6 October, 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey. A series of transformative policy and practice conversations will commence as a vehicle to engage non-governmental organizations, industry leaders, senior government official and civil society in planning for global ageing.
