Report of the Secretary-General to the Commission for Social Development
The Commission for Social Development will hold its 52nd session on 11-21 February 2014. A report of the Secretary-General entitled "Further implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002" (E/CN.5/2014/4) was issued for this session. It presents an overview of the evolution of policy analysis and approach to ageing at the United Nations since the adoption of the Madrid Plan and highlights four clusters of issues that are currently at the forefront of discussions on ageing. It also raises issues that have been cited as impediments to the implementation of the Madrid Plan as well as emerging views and approaches.

Brochure of the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing
The European Commission has made it financially possible to publish a booklet on the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing that took place in Vienna in September 2012. The brochure contains the Declaration of the Ministers, the Political Declaration of the NGO Forum and the Vienna Research Forum Statement. Summaries of “best-practice-examples” from UNECE-Member States are provided for the four policy goals of the Ministerial Declaration together with an internet link for more in-depth information on these examples. The aim of the brochure is to provide information about the issue to a wider public and to promote the implementation of the outcome of the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing.
