  • The ILO, in collaboration with the Carnegie Council,
    will hold a panel discussion entitled
    "Global Jobs Update: Assessing the Quality and Pace of Recovery"
    on 18 February.

The General Assembly proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007, inviting Member States to devote the day to promoting national activities in accordance with the objectives and goals of the World Summit for Social Development and the twenty-fourth session of the General Assembly. Observance of World Day of Social Justice should support efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment and decent work, gender equity and access to social well-being and justice for all.

  • In order to increase awareness of social development issues and the importance of this international day, and in light of the rise of social media as a key means by which people are interconnected, this year, in collaboration with our colleagues at the ILO, we are spreading the word through a Facebook page. We hope that those of you who are currently using Facebook will become fans of the page and spread the word through your professional and personal networks.
