63rd Session of the Commission For Social Development - CSocD63

The 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD63) is scheduled to take place from February 10 to 14, 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This session will focus on the priority theme: "Strengthening solidarity, social inclusion, and social cohesion to accelerate the delivery of the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development, as well as the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development." The emerging issue will focus on “Social resilience and social development”.

The session will feature a series of high-level panel discussions, general debates, and side events addressing various aspects of social development. Notably, a Ministerial Forum titled "Strengthening solidarity and social cohesion" and a panel discussion on emerging issue on “Social resilience and social development” are scheduled.

NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) are encouraged to participate. Registration for ECOSOC-accredited NGOs is open from early October 2024 until January 20, 2025. Additionally, the Civil Society Forum, jointly hosted by UN DESA, the NGO Committee on Social Development, and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Foundation, will take place on February 14, 2025.

This session holds particular significance as it contributes to the preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development, scheduled to take place from 4 to 6 November 2025 in Doha, Qatar. The summit aims to address gaps and reaffirm the principles outlined in the 1995 Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action, providing momentum toward implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
