Call for Photos for the 2016 International Day of Cooperatives

As part of its 2016 activities for the International Day of Cooperatives (IDC), COPAC is hosting a photo exhibition at United Nations Headquarters in New York City from 4-20 July 2016, during the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. Photos selected for the exhibition will be viewed by the many visitors to the UN during this important political event, and be included in an exhibition book distributed to key cooperative stakeholders.

Call for photo submissions

COPAC is accepting submissions for photos for its IDC photo exhibition ‘Cooperatives: The power to act for a sustainable future’.
Photos must meet the following criteria:

 Visually depict how cooperative enterprises and/or the act of cooperation contribute to the following themes:

  • Eradicating poverty,
  • Ending hunger,
  • Securing livelihoods, offering decent work, and creating sustainable employment,
  • Improving gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls,
  • Improving food security and building a sustainable food system,
  • Fostering the development of rural communities and economic opportunities for smallholder producers,
  • Protecting the environment and combating climate change,
  • Engaging as partners with communities, policymakers, and UN agencies to achieve sustainable development, and
  • Other themes expressed in the Sustainable Development Goals;

 Have a minimum size of 3600 x 5400 pixels (180 ppi) or 6000 x 9000 pixels (300 ppi – recommended), as photos will be printed in a large format; and

 Be submitted as a JPEG, with sRGB colour space and 8-bit colour depth.

All submitted photos must be accompanied by the photographer’s name, surname, country, and email; the title, date, and location of the photograph; and a description of the photograph.
Photos may be in colour or monochrome.

In submitting photographs, applicants agree that they have the rights to the image and its distribution. COPAC will not use any artist’s work without his or her written permission.

Selection process 
A jury comprised of COPAC Board members will select up to 8-10 photos for the exhibition. Applicants will be notified of the selected photos by the first week of May 2016.

How to submit
Send up to three photos as an attachment or WeTransfer link to Fran McCrae, COPAC Coordinator, at copac@copac.coop.
To be considered, photos must be accompanied by the photographer’s name, surname, country, and email; the title, date, and location of the photograph(s); and a description of the photograph(s).
The deadline for submissions is 31st March 2016.
