The United Nations has unveiled the official logo for the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives (IYC), symbolizing unity and global collaboration. The design features interconnected figures around the globe, representing people working together to create a better world. The logo highlights the cooperative movement's spirit of collaboration and its global impact in building a more equitable and sustainable future, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"The International Year of Cooperatives 2025 is a time for both celebration and action. Cooperatives embody a model of enterprise and community where inclusion, empowerment and societal resilience are just as valued as revenue and gain.   Cooperatives have and will continue to be drivers of  poverty eradication, women’s empowerment and  social inclusion, while supporting full and productive employment and generating sustainable economic growth.Together, let's show the power of cooperation to create lasting transformative change." Li Junhua Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA)

Use of the Logo

The IYC logo is a powerful tool for raising awareness and promoting the cooperative model. The logo is intended for informational and promotional purposes throughout the International Year of Cooperatives. Any organization not affiliated with the United Nations, such as governments, intergovernmental organizations, non-profits, and private sector entities, that wish to use the IYC logo must complete an online application form and attach a signed waiver of liability form. Please note that there is a one to two-week waiting period for approval. Applications are processed in the order they are received. Once approved and the signed waiver is received, a link to download the logo for use in promotional materials for events celebrating the Year will be provided.

It is essential that the logo be used in its entirety and placed alongside the entity’s own branding when applied. Furthermore, the logo must not be modified, distorted, or used in any way that misrepresents its original intent. The guidelines provide specific instructions for safe areas, size, and color contrast to ensure maximum visibility and clarity in both digital and print media. Downloading the logo is free, and it is available in all six official United Nations languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.

To summarize, follow these steps:

  1. Review the Branding Guidelines: Before applying, carefully read the guidelines to ensure proper use of the logo

  2. Submit an Application: Complete and submit the application form, which will be reviewed by the IYC Secretariat.

  3. Sign the Waiver of Liability: As part of the process, you will need to sign and submit a waiver of liability.

  4. Wait for Approval: The approval process typically takes one to two weeks.
