In recognition of General Assembly resolution A/RES/69/131, the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, in collaboration with the UN Secretariat, hosted a special guided meditation session to mark the International Day of Yoga. The event took place on 20 June on the North Lawn of the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Held under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the session was led by renowned wellness advocate and spiritual teacher Deepak Chopra.
The International Day of Yoga underscores the profound benefits of yoga in enhancing physical and mental well-being. It also promotes mindfulness, unity, and social inclusion — core values aligned with the mission of the United Nations.
The event served as a reminder of the importance of the power of sport and adopting lifestyle practices that support individual and collective health around the world.
