A better environment leads to a better economy

New technologies can be used to extract natural resources in an environmentally friendly way. When the environment of a country is improving, it leads to the country benefiting as a whole. Peru is an example of a country that has used technology to rescue their environment and promote sustainable development.

The technique "offshore-inland" was developed as a way to extract oil from the Peruvian virgin forest in which the drilling sites required no construction of roads and preserve the ecosystem. This example demonstrates how sustainable development can result in the economy and environment improving at the same time. Rich countries are encouraged to aid developing countries in investing in sustainable practices.

A huge obstacle to creating a green economy is informality which is work that takes place outside the legal system; this includes 47% of Latin America workers. To combat the problem of informality, organizations such as the International Labour Organization are providing guidance on transitioning countries into the process of creating a formal economy.
