A universal exposition is running in Milan, Italy from 1 May to 31 October to discuss sustainability. This is a crucial time for the United Nations because this is the year that the UN Millennium Goals have come to an end and the post 2015 development agenda is being launched.
The theme of this 2015 exposition is "Feeding the planet, energy for life" and it is centered around the global challenges of nutrition and natural resources.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is working to meet the goals set by the exposition to empower women, give priority to family farming, and ensure that food systems everywhere are sustainable and resilient. This also causes IFAD to raise awareness about the role of smallholder agriculture in feeding the planet in a sustainable way.
The exposition will introduce its participants to the relationship between humans and food production, and the way conservation and consumption has evolved.
