On 4 June 2015, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization asked countries to look ahead to new development goals to be effective in September that will end hunger in many countries. The 15 year global effort to reduce hunger has now ended with the UN system giving support to more than 100 countries, and now goals are being set to end hunger altogether.
The 15 year goals to reduce hunger was called the Millennium Development Goals and these goals targeted the halving of the share of populations suffering hunger. The sustainable development goals (SDGs) that are being negotiated by the international community are a series of frameworks to completely end world hunger.
In order to achieve these goals, citizens also must to their part in reducing food waste and consuming environmentally friendly products.
