Making Everyone Count: Unique Identification to Fight Poverty | Division for Inclusive Social Development (DISD)

This high-level panel discussion will share perspectives on why civil registries and national identification systems are smart public investments. It will examine how digital identity can help developing countries leapfrog to more efficient 21st century systems. It will also explore public and private sector collaboration opportunities and effective ways donors and development partners can assist countries in building these systems.

Unique identification is a prerequisite for achieving development outcomes, as universal population registration provides individuals with evidence required to secure their legal identity. The World Bank Group is formulating a cross-sector approach to work with development partners, donors and governments to provide support to low- and middle-income countries.
