Description: The ski programme in Afghanistan is a wonderful example of how the power of sport can promote peace, unity and social inclusion. The Bamyan Ski Club and Alpistan NGO have been working on the development of ski in Afghanistan since 2011, which hopefully will also become a tourism attraction and generate income to improve livelihoods.
Alpistan NGO was active 2011-2015 and is starting activities again, focusing on mountain development and avalanche prevention. The Bamyan Ski Club organises the Afghan Ski Challenge each year, the only in the country. National and international athletes and beginners are invited to participate to the event in Bamyan region.
