International Cooperatives Day on 4 July gave communities in Namibia a chance to discuss creating rural wealth via sustainable agriculture. This topic was brought up because the second drought is going to hit Namibia in two years and people from rural areas are concerned about the future of their crops.
Farmers are learning new technologies to cope with these foreseeable problems. Agricultural cooperatives can also work together to use livestock to prepare crop fields and maintain soil fertility.
Presentations at the International Cooperatives Day in Namibia also noted that animal impact addresses the immediate needs of food security for the community and restores grazing and fertility of crop fields.
