The 14th edition of the InfoPoverty Conference aims at providing a critical overview of the role that new Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) play in the formulation of development strategies in developing countries. The Conference also aims to create a roadmap on how the Digital Revolution can help achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) and impact all levels - individual, community, national and global.
The Digital Revolution has resulted in paradigm shifts in people lives and countries around the world. The annual Conference and the Infopoverty Programme will serve as permanent forum of knowledge sharing on new technologies for development. It will also help review and assess their risks and benefits, with a view to identify best practices that would help the UN system and developing countries achieve sustainable development goals. It is envisaged that new technologies will be diffused and operate beyond political and socio-economic boundaries, as well as beyond traditional decision-making networks. The organizers of the Conference also hope to strengthen the role of the UN in the digital revolution.
