International Girls in ICT Day

The annual International Girls in ICT Day is a global initiative that aims to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year.

It is an opportunity for girls and young women to get a first-hand look into ICT institutions and listen to women role models within the sector. Local and national events are organized by Ministries of Communication, Education, National Regulatory Authorities, private sector companies, academic institutions and NGOs every year

This year the International Girls in ICT Day took place on 24 April 2014.
