Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar can now connect to global business with a new online system launched at a joint event of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
The website is a unique, free business-to-business online platform for networking and information sharing, connecting local entrepreneurs with global opportunities in products and services. The website also includes information on specific financing and funding opportunities targeting SMEs.
The Myanmar SME Link platform is a project of the Sustainable Business Network, supported by ESCAP to promote the active engagement of the business sector in addressing the issues of environmental sustainable and social inclusiveness in business in the Asia and Pacific region.
The site was launched at the event, ‘Paving the way for SMEs in Myanmar,’ which was organized by ESCAP in partnership with UMFCCI, the Sustainable Business Network of the ESCAP Business Advisory Council and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
