The number of women in senior and middle management positions has increased globally over the last 20 years, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The ILO's "Women in Business and Management" report looked at 108 countries.
It found that the proportion of women managers has increased in 80 of them.
The ILO said that women's increasing participation in the labour market has been the "biggest engine of global growth and competitiveness."
Despite the positive trend, only five per cent or less of the CEOs of the world's largest corporations are women.
