UNAOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilizations) has launched a call for applications for the first Online Youth Consultation on Preventing Violent Extremism through Sport, which will take place on 20-21 January 2021, within the framework of the "UN Global Programme on Security of Major Sporting Events, and Promotion of Sport and its Values as a Tool to Prevent Violent Extremism". The implementation of the global programme is led by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in partnership with UNAOC, United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and the International Centre for Sport and Security (ICSS).
Youth may apply if they are between 15 and 29 years old and wish to contribute to the advancement of sport in promoting social inclusion, ensuring sustainable peace and preventing radicalization and violent extremism. It is considered an asset if they have experience with awareness raising, communication campaigns, organizing sporting events or policy work.
