“Priorities for a generation” to be set in 2015 – UN Development Chief

Crucial development decisions are set to be made as crises are taking over the focus of the international communities. These ongoing crises include Nepal after the 2015 earthquake, the conflicts in Syria, and the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Development decisions are needed to help communities to be risk informed, prepared, and sustainable.

Helen Clark who is the UN Development Programme's Administrator said in a meeting 4 June in New York City that the UNDP is fully dedicated to setting a "transformational" agenda for sustainable development in the next year. She stressed to the members of the meeting that this agenda can be set through global agreements, the post-2015 development agenda, climate change, and disaster risk reduction.

The goals that UNDP are centered around caring for the immediate needs of the populations affected by crises while still taking into consideration the long-term issues that follow disaster and conflict.
