On December 9, 2024, an event “Shaping Inclusive and Sustainable Futures for, with, and by Persons with Disabilities” was held in Bangkok and online. Through action-oriented research, UNDP, UNESCAP, UN Women, WFP, UNV, Impact Hub, together with UN working groups on disability inclusion in Asia and the Pacific, have been supporting efforts to identify intersectional discrimination and enablers for shaping inclusive and resilient communities. This event brought together UN colleagues and development partners, creating a space for showcasing the intersecting barriers faced by persons with disabilities, as well as the vital leadership roles that persons with disabilities could play in economic, social, and political spheres in fostering a more inclusive and resilient communities.

On January 22, 2025, UN Women and UNDP, in partnership with Global Forum on the Leadership of Women with Disabilities (GFLWD), is organizing a Global Launch webinar "Addressing Stigma, Discrimination and Violence against Women with Disabilities". This event aims to highlight some of the most important results and lessons learnt from the Joint Programme “Addressing stigma discrimination and violence for empowering women with disabilities (ASDWD)”, present the new Women with Disabilities Stigma Inventory (WSDI) Toolkit and Policy Paper, and contribute to evidence-based decision making and to more informed and focused policy debate on stigma, discrimination and violence against women with disabilities.
