Training youth brings stability to Mali

In Mali, more than half of the population is consisted of young adults because the fertility rate is the second highest in the world. These young people often become victims to religious extremists that manipulate youth into being recruited.

UNDP, the UN Population Fund, UN Food, and Agriculture Organization and the International Labour Office have developed a training programme at Soufouroulaye to strengthen human security. The goal of this programme is to create quick and temporary jobs for 3,000 young people and promote income-generating activities for about 4,500 youth grouped into associations or economic interest clusters.

The young people that go through this programme also receive start-up kits that will enable them to launch their own businesses. The Soufouroulaye youth camp gives young people all over Mali a space to unite over common concerns and ambitions.
