Women are at the centre of Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS). While women live longer than men and have higher rates of disability and chronic health problems, they are also the primary providers of LTSS. The vast majority of both direct paid care workers and unpaid family caregivers are women. Despite these facts, they often lack the resources to find care for their additional years of life and to address health issues.

The Fact Sheet on Women and Long-Term Services and Supports by Ari Houser, AARP Public Policy Institute, sheds light on these pressing realities, focussing on women at the core of social policies related to long-term care.
