Habitat III Conference and a New Urban Agenda

Habitat III Conference underwayThe United Nations’ Third Global Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development – Habitat III – opened on Monday 17 October. The conference will review the progress, experience and lessons learnt in the past and to design a “New Urban Agenda”. The Habitat III Conference will be composed of the opening plenary meeting on 17 October 2016, six other plenary meetings, six high-level roundtable sessions, and the closing plenary on 20 October 2016.

On the eve of the opening, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), through its Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD), and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MIDUVI) of the Republic of Ecuador convened a High Level Forum on Disability Inclusion and Accessible Urban Development in the lead up to the HABITAT III.
