New UN DESA Policy and Action Plan for Disability Inclusion (2020-2021)

16 July 2020

UN DESA has been long working on disability issues within the UN system.

The newly issued document is the first DESA policy specifically concerning disability inclusion, aiming at providing guidance to the ongoing work of the Department in implementing the UNDIS .

The successful realization of this Policy will require the commitment and participation of all staff members. Raising awareness, changing attitudes and enhancing the capacities of both staff members and managers in relation to disability-inclusion matters, will  be crucial. For the organization, it will also be important to further promote awareness when it comes to inclusive environments and conducive conditions.
