The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW60) opened at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 March 2016. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session.
The Division for Social Policy and Development of UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DSPD/UNDESA), in collaboration with UN Women and United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), organized a side-event on women and girls with disabilities, entitled: "Operationalizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for Women and Girls with Disabilities" on 18 March, 2016 at the United Headquarters in New York.
The event is moderated by Ms. Daniela Bas, Director of (DSPD/UNDESA) and was opened by Minister Baroness Verma, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for the UK Department for International Development (DFID). The event also invited H.E. Mrs. Esther Lungu, First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Ms. Alexia Manombe-Ncube, Deputy Minister for Disability, Namibia, together with speakers from different sectors, including UN agencies, academia, disabled people's organizations, to name a few.
