The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on the theme “Dialogue on an optional protocol to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”, to be based on the study prepared on that topic (E/C.19/2014/7) and having a focus on land, territories and resource rights, together with all of the rights contained in the UN Declaration, in particular the right to self-determination, self-government and autonomy, as well as issues raised at the thirteenth session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues is being organized following a decision by the Economic and Social Council, authorizing a three day international expert group meeting. The results of the meeting will be reported to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at its fourteenth session in April and May 2015.
