Welcome to the United Nations
The 18th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (COSP18) will take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 10 to 12 June 2025. As one of the world’s largest gatherings focused on disability rights and inclusion, COSP18 will bring together governments, organizations of persons with disabilities, civil society, and international organizations to advance the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and reinforce global commitments to disability-inclusive social development.
Enhancing Awareness of Disability Rights for Social Development
As the world prepares for the Second World Summit for Social Development, COSP18 will focus on enhancing public awareness of the rights and contributions of persons with disabilities, ensuring that disability inclusion remains central to global social development efforts. The session will highlight the vital role of persons with disabilities in shaping inclusive policies, economies, and societies.
What to Expect at COSP18
- Civil Society Forum (9 June 2025) – A dedicated platform for civil society organizations and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) to share perspectives, priorities, and recommendations for advancing disability rights and inclusion.
- Roundtable 1: Empowering Persons with Disabilities and Enhancing Social Development Policies through Innovative Financing
- Roundtable 2: Leaving No One Behind – Using AI as a Tool for Supporting Inclusivity and Strengthening the Participation of Persons with Disabilities
- Roundtable 3: Recognizing and Addressing the Rights of Indigenous Persons with Disabilities and Their Role in Advancing Disability Inclusion
