4 January: World Braille Day*

25 July 2016 – The adoption of the American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples during the fortieth General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was a historic event.

I would like to express my absolute rejection and condemnation of the events that took place on 19 and 20 June this year in Asuncion Nochixtlán and neighbouring municipalities in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.

On 11 July 2016, high-level representatives of government, the United Nations, cooperatives, civil society, and the COPAC membership convened at the UN to celebrate the International Day of Cooperatives.

More than sixty people participated in the event, which was followed by a lunch to visit the COPAC photo exhibition, “Cooperatives: The power to act for a sustainable future”. See the exhibition catalogue.

The High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2016 concluded yesterday night with the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration.

Geneva, Switzerland, 14 July 2016 – 23 June 2016 was a historic day for Colombia, its people and the region. Colombia opted for a long-awaited peace that was lost more than 50 years ago.

The Netherlands ratified the Convention on 13 July 2016, bringing the total number of States Parties to the CRPD to 166.

The side event Moving Forward: Securing the rights and contributions of Indigenous Peoples in the 2030 Agenda will take place on 15 July 1.15-2.30 at the UN Headquarters in New York, Conference Room 6.
