High-Level Political Forum on “Building back better from the COVID-19”, 5-15 July 2022

The meeting of the HLPF in 2022 will be held from Tuesday, 5 July, to Thursday, 7 July, and from Monday, 11 July, to Friday, 15 July 2022 , under the auspices of the Economic and Social Council. This includes the three-day ministerial segment of the forum from Wednesday, 13 July, to Friday, 15 July 2022.

Older Women in Crises: Invisible among the most vulnerable, 14 July 2022

This virtual event takes place on the margins of the 2022 HLPF, held under the auspices of ECOSOC. The theme of the HLPF in 2022 is Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As Member States discuss sustainable and resilient measures to building an inclusive and effective path for the achievement of the 2030 Agenda, this side event will specifically address SDG 5 on Gender Equality.

International Day of Cooperatives 2022: Cooperatives Build a Better World

On July 2, cooperatives all around the world will celebrate the 100th International Day of Cooperatives (#CoopsDay). A decade on from the UN International Year of Cooperatives, which showcased the unique contribution of cooperatives to making the world a better place, this year’s #CoopsDay slogan –“Cooperatives Build a Better World”– echoes the theme of the International Year.

Statement by the Chairperson of the Permanent Forum on the eviction of Maasai people from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues expresses its profound concern over ongoing efforts to evict over 70,000 Maasai people of Loliondo division of the Ngorongoro district of Tanzania from the 1,500 square kilometers, which are legally registered village lands.

Building disability-inclusive societies in the COVID context and beyond

There are only eight years left for the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With 185 ratifications to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the international commitments to equality and empowerment of persons with disabilities has been further strengthened and there is increasing appreciation of advancing disability-inclusive development as an effective means and way to realize the rights and achieve development for all, including persons with disabilities.
