In November 2016, the Secretary-General prepared a report on Third review and appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002: preliminary assessment. The report will be submitted to the fifty-fifth session of the Commission for Social Development (link) pursuant to Economic and Social Council resolution 2015/5, entitled “Modalities for the third review and appraisal of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002.” (link). It provides an analysis of the preliminary findings of the third review and appraisal exercise, including identification of prevalent and emerging issues and related policy options. The report also includes information about the regional preparations for the third review and appraisal of the Madrid Plan, including actions, activities and utilization of a bottom-up participatory approach.
