Accreditation for UNPFII 2025 is now closed

Participation in the annual session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is open to Member States, the UN and other intergovernmental organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ Organizations (IPOs), academia accredited to the Permanent Forum and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in consultative status with ECOSOC.  Indigenous parliamentarians and National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) may also be invited to attend. 

UN calls for innovative solutions to strengthen social inclusion and social cohesion to advance the SDGs

With renewed urgency to tackle inequalities and restore trust in public institutions, the 63rd session of the UN Commission for Social Development (CSocD63) will run from 10 to 14 February in New York. It will focus on scaling up investments in inclusive economic and social policies and fostering governance grounded in equity, transparency, and participation—ultimately guided by the Sustainable Development Goals.

New Report of the Secretary General on the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family

As part of the preparations for and observance of the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family, the report is focused on the impact of climate change on the well-being of families, highlighting challenges relating to food and water scarcity, worsening physical and mental health, increased intrafamilial violence and child marriage.

The following individuals have been nominated as members of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues for the term 2026-2028. The term begins on 1 January 2026 and concludes on 31 December 2028. 

Making the SDGs Work for and with Persons with Disabilities

On 17 December, UN DESA hosted an innovative Global Policy Dialogue titled "Making the SDGs Work for and with Persons with Disabilities." This hybrid event was held at the SDG Studio at UN Headquarters in New York, as well as online, presenting a pivotal opportunity to amplify voices of persons with disabilities and inspire action towards a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world.
