International Day of Older Persons 2011
The International Day of Older Persons will be celebrated on 1 October 2011.
The Day will be commemorated on 3 October 2011 in Geneva under the theme of "Active and Healthy Ageing 2012" and on 6 October 2011 in New York under the theme of "Launch of Madrid+10: The Growing Opportunities and Challenges of Global Ageing".

United Nations Human Rights Council Appoints Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older Persons
On 8 May 2014, the Council appointed Ms. Rosita Kornfeld-Matte (Chile) as Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of All Human Rights by Older Persons.
