PROFESSIONAL CAREER

2010- Present: Secretary of the North Rupununi District Development Board (NRDDB). Some key responsibilities includes: attending all meetings, recording of minutes and preparation and dissemination of same to all Toshaos.

2009-2010: Acting Principal of the Bina Hill Institute, Annai, North Rupununi. Some of my responsibilities included: Managing the day to day activity of the Institute, Managing the staff of the Institute, planning for the School welfare, ensure that students take part in Heritage Celebration and other activities and also to make representation on behalf of the Institute.

2009-Present: Manager of Wowetta Business Enterprise Inc Wowetta. My roles include: Managing five sup-projects, namely, Freezer project, Vegetable garden, Cassava Processing, Youth Joinery Project and Solar home system.
- 2009: Toshao (Village Captain) for Wowetta Village. Key roles: day to day managements of the welfare of the people make representation on behalf of the people; develop rules and regulations for the village resources and development of Community Management Plan, and to development of Management plan for Natural Resources. Elected April, 2009 for a three year term.
- 2009: Conducted Community outreach under the UNICEF funded project, with Bina Hill Institute (Annai, Guyana), on Global Warming, Climate Change and HIV/AIDS and its effects in two communities, Fairview and Karasabai.
- 2009: Conducted a one month Community Outreach throughout the 16 North Rupununi Communities, under the Guiana Shield Initiative Project, Phase II, on Payment for Ecosystem Services, threats to Ecosystem, Global warming and Climate Change, and its effects at the Global and Local level.
- 2008-2009: Facilitator for Forestry, Natural Resources and Wildlife Management, at Bina Hill Institute (Annai, Guyana).
- 2007-2008: Project Coordinator for Field Technicians, with Project Fauna. One key role was to ensure that Technicians completed their tasks every month.
- 2008: Coordinator for the Arapaima Project for the North Rupununi District Development Board, Bina Hill, Annai, Guyana. Some tasks were: organizing counting activities of Arapaima (a large, endangered, fresh water fish species) population; Report writing; Community outreach; dissemination of information of the simplified version of the Arapaima Management Plan; and highlighting to the residents of the various communities about the Quota System for each community.
- August 2010: Conducted a presentation on Applied Community Change and Conservation, University of Ottawa.
- August 2007: Attended a Global Assembly Conference on “Speak Out, Reach Out, and Ignite Change”, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
- 2006: Conducted research on Sexual and Reproductive Health Issues, Georgetown, Guyana. This research was conducted in areas along the Coast, from Berbice to Essequibo, and along the Linden Highway with funding from the United Nation Development Programme, through the University of Guyana.
- 2005: Completed a one-month Geographical Information System (GIS) course, on creating maps, and adding data from Global positioning system (GPS) into Arc View Software, facilitated by the Guyana Forestry Commission. This was achieved by using existing data and overlapping attributes of various vegetation types of selected areas, and collection of waypoints using GPS.
- 2005: Completed a one-month practical field exercise, on Forest Inventory in the Conservation International Concession, with the Guyana Forestry Commission, Essequibo River. This was done after the above GIS course, to put the theoretical training into practice.
- April-August,2004: Geographical Information System (GIS) Intern, employed by Bina Hill (Annai, Guyana).
- August 2003: Completed a three day Geographical Information System (GIS) Training, Bina Hill Institute, Annai, Guyana. At this training session, fundamentals of GIS were learned using Arc View Software. August, 2003
- November 1999- July 2000: Field Assistant for two Primatologists within Iwokrama Centre fro Rainforest Conservation and Development reserve. Conducted field study on the behavioral patterns of five Primate Species: Brown Capuchin, Wedge Capped Capuchin, Bearded Saki, Red Howler Monkey, and Black Spider Monkey. November 1999- July 2000
