Revised Information Note for Delegates attending the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha

The General Assembly has released the official revised information note for delegations (A/INF/80/5/Rev.1) attending the World Social Summit — the Second World Summit for Social Development, to be held in Doha, Qatar, from 4 to 6 November 2025. The note provides practical guidance on all aspects of participation, including:

  • Programme and schedule of plenary meetings and high-level round tables.

Advancing social development and social justice through coordinated, equitable and inclusive policies

The Commission for Social Development (CSocD) will convene its sixty-fourth session from 2 to 10 February 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York in Conference Room 4, bringing together Member States, United Nations entities, civil society, and other stakeholders to advance global dialogue and action on inclusive and sustainable social development.

Future-Ready Care Pathways for Later Life: Housing, Financial Well-Being and Smarter Support Solutions

The objective of this side event is to explore how housing, financial well-being and adequate care and support systems can be better aligned to enable people to live with dignity, security and choice in later life. Drawing on policy experience and practice from different contexts, the discussion will examine how these interconnected areas can reinforce one another to reduce poverty risks, support family members and caregivers, and strengthen resilient care pathways across the life course.

Doha: World Summit ends with renewed pledge to leave no one behind

The Second World Summit for Social Development wrapped up on Thursday with nations warning that global progress on poverty and inequality will stall unless countries move faster from promises to implementation.

The Summit took place 30 years after the landmark 1995 Copenhagen meeting that put social justice at the heart of sustainable development. Since then, many countries report dramatic gains in education, health and poverty reduction – but also widening inequality, demographic pressures, climate vulnerability and conflict.
